Abstract EN

Mohammed Mahdi Al-Shahristani is one of the prominent scholars and preachers of reform and renewal in the holy city of Karbala.

He left a rich scientific and intellectual heritage as he had significant marks on the continuation of the scientific movement in Karbala, which began early in its history.

He was known as the head of the Shahristani family in Karbala, and stood up to the duties of the religious leadership.

He also kept serving the Prophet Muhammad's law, and made great deeds for the city of Karbala in general, and for the holy shrine of Imam Hussein in particular.

This study was divided into three sections; the first section deals with delivering a historical prelude about Al-Shahristani's family, its progeny, and its most prominent scholars in Karbala.

The second section included a detailed study about the life of Mohammed Mahdi Al-Shahristani, his studies, mentors, and students, as for the third section, it demonstrates the role of Al-Shahristani role in Karbala in regard to the scientific and architectural field in the city, and his contribution in the construction of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (PBUH).
