In its methodology and objectives, the research emphasized on cultural events in the city of Karbala, especially the Arbaeen pilgrimage in which (13, 874, 818) pilgrims from (28) countries participated in 2017, and (15, 229, 955) in 2019, in addition to several events, the most important of which is the annual international "Rabi' Al-Shahada" festival, which is held in coordination between the the holy shrines of Imam Hussein and Al-Abbas with a broad participation of a large number of countries since its launch in 2005 until its fifteenth anniversary in 2019, in which (288) figures from (40) countries participated, as well as a number of exhibitions, the most important of which is the "Karbala International Book Fair" held in conjunction with the annual international "Rabi' Al-Shahada" festival each year, as (132) entities from eight countries have participated in its fifteenth anniversary in 2019, not to mention the conferences and other cultural activities organized by a large number of authorities in the city including Karbala University, as well as the conventions organized by the holy shrines of Imam Hussein and Al-Abbas, and cultural centers in the city.

These cultural events possess a broad functional echo that includes all the continents of the world except for the Antarctica, but the broadest influence was for festivals, as their impact reached nearly (40) countries around the world.

This matter makes Karbala one of the distinctive tourist areas, as its impact reaches all over the world, which gives it a soft power to influence the world's population and makes the city the focus of attention of the world due to what God has endowed it with of such distinguished tourism features.
