Abstract EN

Political marriages were and are still among the diplomatic and social means that restrict the military and political confrontations between the ruling families and the neighboring and competing countries.

Throughout its Islamic history, Mosul witnessed many political marriages which led to establishing good relations between the neighboring forces and a means for mutual recognition of the legitimacy of the rule and the authority, together with endeavoring to find means for creating the mutual trust to enhance charters and treaties.

Consequently, the most prominent results of the political marriages are their great and important role regarding the ongoing political issues and the relation between the local and neighboring forces.

Mosul and its ruling families were examples of the subject matter of this paper.
