Abstract EN

The paper discusses the status of the ibex among ancient nations generally, and the Arab nation in particular.

The ancient man looked at the mountains which the ibexes climb to it with holiness; where his Gods live, which gives him the blessing.

So, the ancient man believed in the ibex, as a symbol of rain and fertility, and the best eucharist in the temples of southern Arabia in particular, in addition to the shape of its twisted horns that resemble the rotation of the crescent and the moon, so it was sacred animal symbol of God (the moon), and sacred symbol of the God (Athtar), the God of rain and fertility, as well as the importance of the ibex in the search for rainy areas and pasture, and the name of ibex was associated with sacred hunting.

These ideological ideas embodied in pre-Islamic poetry; where the ibex takes refuge in themountain, and goes down during the rain, and relationship with the female; what is symbolizes to virility.

The idea of the ibex death among pre-Islamic people was shocking and confusing.

Because Nature dies when the ibex dies, so because of that we find the hunter and the ibex with the idea of a person dying in lamentation poetry was frequently repeated
