Abstract EN

The study aims to research in Sanctions in International Politics: US Sanctions Against the Russian Federation as a Model (2014-2016), as stipulated by international law in accordance with the Covenant of the League of Nations and the Charter of the United Nations.

The study also examines the sanctions imposed outside the legal framework of the international legal norms, and the modifications they went through.

Besides, the study uncovers the nature of these sanctions and their objectives, the authority to impose them, and the differences within the US institutions around them and the US legislation that provides for the possibility of imposing such sanctions.

The article explores the concept of "the principle of external jurisdiction" in the American legal system to clarify the role of the US Congress in the mechanisms of sanctioning, and to identify the federal institutions responsible for their implementation using descriptive analytical methodology - case study, and decision-making in foreign policy.
