Abstract EN

This research is a quantitative study, conducted on a sample of 60 young men and women from different cities of Algeria.

Their ages range between 14 and 35 years old, mostly they are university students.

And also Social networks (SN) are part of their daily life.

Through this study, we aimed to determinate the most important social networks and what attracts young people to it, especially what affects the building of their cultural identity and their socialization, since it is a continuous process.

The results obtained show that the construction of the cultural identity is influenced by the values of the Algerian society, and was established during the process of socialization.

While there is a parallel culture of SN, the virtual world that provides young people with everything they need, information, friendships, and spaces for expression and learning.

These SN become a new culture that the young people belongs to, and becomes part of it.

Subsequently, cultural identity is also affected by belonging to the virtual world of SN
