The study aimed to identify the level of self-efficacy in patients with essential hypertension (or idiopathic hypertension).

The study sample consisted of 65 affected individuals, using the "comparative descriptive" approach, and by applying the measure of self-efficacy the results were as follows: - Patients with essential hypertension have a high level of effectiveness.

- There were no statistically significant differences in the level of self-efficacy according to the gender variable among the study sample.

- There were no statistically significant differences in the level of self-efficacy because of the duration of the disease among the study sample.
