Algeria is one of the rentier countries that depend in their various policies on oil and gas revenues.

However, the global trend towards adopting new and renewable energies to preserve the environment makes the review of those policies to keep pace with international changes inevitable, and shale gas is one of the energies.

New Algeria, which has a large reserve of it, made the compass of the energy policy towards its exploitation, but as soon as thinking about that, multiple opinions emerged and divided between supporters and opponents of its exploitation, which hindered the issuance of clear policies in the face of the inevitability of the economic trend towards shale gas and the uncertainty of its impact on the environment and climate.
