Abstract EN

This study purports to track the binary oppositions based on the principle of spacial polarities established by the Russian critic Lotman, when searching the problem of artistic space, in an attempt to uncover the main binaries operating when studying such a narrative component in Djaloudji's novel “Ras al-mihna 1+1=0”.

The study is focusing on Al-Hofra alley as being the epicenter of such binaries depicting the events and determining the situations in the novel space, creating thus binary oppositions which act in the service of the narrative space of this artistic work.
