This study aims at revealing the efforts of westem linguists in textual research through their writings, despite the existence of initiations to this sciens in the Arabic tradition, showing the efforts of Zelling Harris, Brown and Youl, Hlliday and Roquia Hacen, and Van Dick and their effective role in the transfer of the linguistic study from the level of one sentence to the level of text, this latter becomes the first basis that textual linguistics stands on.
