The present research paper revolves around Edwar al-Kharrat ; one of Egypt's most influential fiction writers, in the sense where he not only is a fictional practitioner who has revolutionized the narrative form of the novel but also as a theorist and commentator / critic on how the new novel took a new pace in its form and constructedness.

the relied-upon novel in this paper is Rama and the Dragon (1979), with the aim to uncover and clarify what the narrative of the new novel is with its specific criteria; time shift, intertextuality, and metafiction to mention some, vis-à-vis the conventional tendency of writing fiction.
