Abstract EN

The current research aims to identify the effects of the war on Syria on the lives of husbands and wives in general; and on their psychological and health status, the nature of the relationship between them, their living status, and the different ways they spend their leisure time, in particular.

An appropriate methodology was adopted for the purpose of this research, namely, the descriptive analytical method, and social survey by sample.

A questionnaire was also used as a tool to collect field data.

The original research population consists of the husbands and wives of Syrian nationality who had been married for minimum period of three years before the outbreak of the war, and are settled in the city of Damascus during the research.

The metastatic and intentional sampling method as well as the network sample were used as non-random sampling method for selecting a sample of /200/ marriage units.

Based on the statistical analysis of the data carried out through SPSS using percentages, a number of results were reached indicating the negative impact of the war on Syria on the psychological and health status of husbands and wives.

The war also led to increased problems between husbands and wives.

The main reasons for these problems were financial reasons.

The results also showed a decrease in the living standard of the marriage units during the years of war against Syria.

In addition, the research showed that the ways for spending leisure time for husbands and wives during the war differ from those before the war.
