The present study aimed to find out the relationship between Merton's theory of opportunities and its relationship to affiliation and psychological security for a sample of unemployed males in a short period of time and a long period of time, through the questions of the boss: Is there a relationship between the lack of opportunities available within the community and the low rate of affiliation and psychological security of unemployed males? Is there a correlation between the length of time unemployed and the low rate of psychological security and affiliation?
