Abstract EN

After the emergence of generative linguistics، the nature and accuracy of the hidden relationship between the lexicon and syntax appeared, and the lexicon became a discipline and structure, whose field was the sentence both in terms of construction and formation.

The Arabic language has features the most important of which is that it is a derivative language starting from the substance, the origin from which it is derived, and then the derived branch.

The body terms (such as face) enjoy in Arabic with the derivative efficiency provided for the performance in the lexical values that are prepared for syntactic construction, based on its capacity in derivation and accordingly the capacity in signifying.

Hence, the paper endeavours to observe that relationship and its forms used in the entry (face) and its derivatives in terms of lexicon and syntax.

It comes up with useful results that can enrich the linguistic description of the Arabic language.
