The Taif Agreement, which was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1989AD, constituted a historical turning point in the political history of Lebanon and effected inall its situations, the agreement ended awar that lasted for 14 years, characterized by its violence, ferocity and heavy losses in lives and property.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had an important and main role in this agreement through, Its intense mediation and its contacts with official and unofficial Lebanese leaderships, due to the great influence it occupies in the Arab political arena on the one hand, and its trustworthy international position on the other hand, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has paid great attention to Arab issues in general and the Lebanese issue in particular.
