Abstract EN

The nineteenth century, known as the era of reform and renewal movements in the sub- Saharan Africa region, and the movement of Sheikh Othman bin Foudi in West Africa is one of the most important of these movements, which targeted the social and political change of conditions in the region from ideological and religious grounds, and its founder had a major role in establishing the da'wa Islam in the region, but throughout the entire African continent, and brought about an important change in the African region.

This study aims to highlight the role of Othman bin Foudi, the reform movement, in spreading Islam and its teachings in the Hausa countries at the beginning of the nineteenth, from the methods of advocacy through teaching and preaching, then declaring jihad against among the pagan princes and rulers.

Sheikh Othman bin Foudi was able to establish a state known as the Emirate of Scotu, which would become one of the most important scientific, economic and political cities in West Africa for more than a century, which contributed to the development of the region.This study also tries to highlight the features of the reform movement in Ben Foudi and its political manifestations, and to understand the philosophy of social change and the community project of Othman bin Foudi in West Sub-Saharan Africa.

We will also try, through this study, to identify the general conditions of sub-Saharan Africa at the beginning of the nineteenth century.
