The Jumblatt family is one of the most ancient Arab (Abbasid) families that ruled the regions of northern Syria since the Middle Ages.

At the beginning of the seventeenth century AD, a large part of the Jumblatti family migrated to Mount Lebanon, The Jumblatt family began its political, economic and social activity, evident from its immigration to Mount Lebanon, But this prestige and influence was met by other stiff competitors.

One of its results was the emergence of a feudal rivalry between two large families : the Jumblatt family and its allies, and the Yazbak family and their allies.

One of the results of this competition was the emergence of the leadership of the two brothers Najib and Nassib Jumblatt, who held important positions during the Mutasarrifiye era.

One of them, Sheikh Nassib Bey Jumblatt, reached the position of the mayor of the Shouf, which is the highest administrative position in Mount Lebanon after the position of the Mutasarrif.
