Abstract EN

This article represents a critical and analytical study on both loan and calque procedures used in journalistic texts translated from English into Arabic.

It aims at identifying the extent to which the abovementioned procedures are used in journalistic discourse, and how such texts are influenced by foreign languages spread mostly in media institutions such as news agencies.

This spread has led to multilinguism, having, therefore, a ripple effect on the nature of texts translated into Arabic due to the occurrence of language contact in a variety of phenomena, including Arabicized (Muâarab) and foreign wordsK Therefore, today’s reader will be struck by the number of alien constructions abound in the modern Arabic of the journalistic texts
