Abstract EN

The study seeks to identify the extent to which students of educational media departments rely on mobile phone journalism as a source of news, and to monitor the most important cognitive, emotional and behavioral effects resulting from students of educational media departments adopting mobile journalism as a source of news.

The study used the survey methodology, and the study was based on the theory of media dependence.

Also, a questionnaire was used to collect data, and the study sample consisted of 400 female and male students of the educational media departments at two universities (Cairo - Kafr El Sheikh).

The high reliance of students of educational media departments on mobile phone journalism as a source of news, as the percentage of those who depend on it "always" reached 41% of the study sample, while the percentage of those who depend on it "sometimes" reached 53% , and one of the main reasons for their preference for it is that "it is easy to use", "Al-Bawaba News" came at the forefront of news applications preferred by the respondents with a rate of 52.1% , and "Facebook" came on top of social networking applications by 74% , and "Instagram" came in the forefront of photo, audio and video applications by 72.3% .
