Abstract EN

The Libyan government with its vision and convictions of Muammar al-Qadhafi was keen to confront any form of foreign presence in the Middle East.

Gaddafi used a series of justifications and reasons which he always repeated: the foreigner especially the United States The first and last of the Israeli presence in the region as was the purpose of his remarks that call for the unification of the Arab nation as he called under his umbrella and leadership away from the orientations of pro-Western regimes.

On the other hand the US administration was fully aware of the goals and plans of Gaddafi and his efforts to build a strong military defense force and his extremist views regarding his oil and administrative policy especially the issue of translating US passports into Arabic which was used as a pretext and a pressure card on the US administration.
