Abstract EN

The research aims to study the phenomenon of corruption, its stages and its various manifestations in Yemen during the period 1990-2018.

The study found that Yemen is one of the most corrupt countries, occupying the last ranks globally and Arably to spread corruption in the joints of the state, political, economic and military, and that the head of the political system is the root and sponsor of corruption.

The researcher found evidence from the standard analysis that corruption affects morally and negatively in economic growth, as tests confirmed the validity of the first hypothesis that corruption impedes economic growth and that an increase in the degree of corruption by 1% leads to a decrease in economic growth by 1.66%.

The tests confirmed the validity of the second hypothesis in the moral significance of the corruption variable while refuting the inverse relationship between corruption and investment, and that increasing the degree of corruption by 1% leads to an increase in the investment rate by 1.5%.

The tests confirmed the validity of the third hypothesis in the moral significance of the corruption variable while refuting the inverse relationship between corruption and educational spending, and that increasing the degree of corruption by 1% leads to an increase in the rate of spending on education by 0.5%.

The research recommended the necessity of political will, activating transparency and accountability of the authorities, and achieving political stability as keys to advancing economic and social development.
