Abstract EN

This study discusses policies of the United Arab Emirates-Saudi Arabia axis against democratic movements in the Arab world, especially against the legitimate government in Libya.

Groups close to the Muslim Brotherhood, the main carrier of the democratization process in the Arab world, described as the Arab Spring, came to power in Libya.

However, after the collapse of the Gaddafi regime, political instability prevailed in the country with the intervention of external actors.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia, which advocate the continuation of the old regional order based on an authoritarian model, pursue a revisionist and interventionist policy against the legitimate government.

These two states give all kinds of financial, military, political and diplomatic support to the illegitimate actor Khalifa Haftar, due to their concerns about regime change and ideological developments.
