Abstract EN

There is a discrepancy in contemporary Islamic thought regarding the relationship between citizenship and the nation, as the contemporary Islamic vision has divided over this issue.

Some say that citizenship contradicts the concept of the nation in Islamic thought, as they find in the concept of citizenship a Western heresy that conflicts with the concepts of Islamic thought about the nation that is based on religious ground , while citizenship is based on secular ground.

On the other hand , others believe that there is no contradiction between the two concepts, even some argue that the concept of citizenship is actually an Islamic concept, and ,thus, consequently they see allegiance to the homeland overweighs allegiance to the nation.

This research will discuss the concepts of citizenship and the nation in general as a theoretical and conceptual framework for study, and then delve into the theses of contemporary Islamic thinkers and researchers on the relationship between the concept of citizenship and the concept of the nation.
