Abstract EN

This study aimed to reveal the methods of family upbringing employed by male parents and their roles in developing positive values in children in Jordan.

To achieve this goal, the interview tool was used with a sample that included 50 male heads of families in the northeastern Badia, who were chosen in a random and intentional way.

The researchers used the qualitative method through employing the interview tool.

The results revealed that the use of the excessive protection method came in the first rank with 50%, while the use of the democratic method came in the second rank with 48%.

The use of the authoritarian method came in the last rank with 26%.

The results also showed that there is consensus on the importance of values (obedience, equality, ethics, and friendship) with 100%, while the value of teamwork came in the second place with 74%, and in the last place the value of the tribe came with 72%.

The study reached a set of recommendations for the family, and institutions concerned with the family, they should pay attention to methods of social upbringing and awareness of the family in the best ways, and to promote and preserve social values.
