Abstract EN

Empowerment of women has been receiving attention on both the national and international levels.

Currently, the empowerment of women is an example of the balance in the Saudi developmental political thought.

Among the most prominent results of such empowerment is the appointment of Princess Reema Bint Bandar Al Saud as the Saudi ambassador to Washington.

Since this represents one of the outputs to empower Saudi women on the global level, this appointment is always present in the minds of many people concerned with Saudi women empowerment.

Accordingly, she has the ability as a soft and inspiring power to have a positive and cultural influence on its national identity.

Therefore, the importance of this study lies in shedding light on the role of the influential fashion of elite women who enjoy social and political weight in promoting the national identity.

In addition, this study is revealing the positive effect of their costumes on embodying values out of the cultural perspective, and the hitherto importance of strengthening the liaison with identity.

The study aimed at revealing the social and political standing enjoyed by Princess Reema and deriving the cultural and philosophical values that reinforce the Saudi national identity through analyzing her costumes on the Saudi National Day (89) and (90).

It also aimed at highlighting the role of the semantics of the philosophical visual reading of fashion in understanding and comprehending the meanings associated with the values and identity through fashion.

This study utilized the descriptive and analytical methodology.

Among this study’s most important results is the clarity of the cultural values of the Saudi national identity through Princess Reema's costumes.

This is what we can call the diplomacy of the art of selecting costumes and taking care of the meaning of appearance in light of the positive domains of empowering women.

Accordingly, among the study’s most prominent recommendations is the need to pay attention to studies related to the cultural values that elite fashion implies with the aim to boost the national identity.
