Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the relationship between Internet addiction and resistance to psychological temptation, in a sample of (200) students of Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, in the academic year (1439-1440).

The study used the Internet Addiction Scale and the Psychological Resistance to Temptation Scale.

The results of the study revealed that university students ’Internet addiction is moderately high, the level of temptation resistance is high, and there is a negative statistically significant correlation between Internet addiction and psychological temptation resistance.

Theresults also indicated that there are statistically significant differences at a significant level(0.01) among the averages of university students with a low and medium level of Internet addiction as well as those with a low and high level of Internet addiction on all dimensions of the resistance to temptation scale and the overall score of the scale, in favor of low-level students.

This is apart from physical temptation, which is not statistically significant among those with low and medium levels of Internet addiction.

Further, differences were found between the scores of students with intermediate and high levels of Internet addiction on the physical temptation dimension of the temptation resistance scale.

The total score of the scale, was in favor of intermediate level students.

The results of the study revealed the possibility of predicting internet addiction through resisting psychological temptation, total degree, Based on these results, the researcher recommended a number of recommendations, the most important of which are : Providing programs, activities and workshops through the Student Affairs Deanships to develop resistance to temptation among university students because of its differential value between students who are addicted and non-addicted to the Internet in light of the ability of resistance to temptation to explain a high degree of variabiliy in addiction.
