In reading the ancient and modern dictionaries; We obtain a type of it referred to as the primacy of the formation of the Arabic dictionary, and by it I mean the specialized lexicons, or what is known as the meaning dictionary or what I see in the semantic dictionary Its significance is of significance, or what defines it as a principle, and an end.

And his form is those well-known linguistic messages .This is the argument of the Arabs for their merit in building dictionaries, and constructing them except that we do not find anyone who wrote in the geographical dictionary - after it a specialized dictionary with one semantic field - except what was described in a dictionary of the names of the countries and places by Abu Ubaid Al-Bakri (d.c.

487 AH), and a dictionary Al-Balad - Al-Mukhrab al-Aql - Biaqout al-Hamwi (d .: 626 AH), noting that the specialized dictionaries do not mean the moral, or the semantic concerned with language only.

Because this assumption will keep the lexicons of civilization's words, cooking tools, art and clothing away from the compact dictionary rows.

And I see it as it has left the veneer of linguistic dictionaries.

It is not concerned with the singularity only in its many contexts.

Rather, I mean the word mother, and what follows it.This research was based on the principle of the geographical dictionary in modern Iraqi vocabulary, in a sample that is unique to the libraries of Iraq, and no similar ones were brought forth.

And it is a book (The Origins of Names of Iraqi Cities and Villages) by the late: (Gorgis Awad and Yaqoub Sarkis); Indeed, what has been mentioned by historical and municipal sources with a geographical character, whether or not they are neglected in those Arab and non-Arab sources (3) and from this I say I can see it as a dictionary on the one hand and a book on travels on the other side.

And by inspecting its buildings in the framework of lexical references, I called this research: « The geographical dictionary and the book (Origins of names of Iraqi cities and villages».
