This article highlights the terminological origin of the word culture in French and Arabic.
It is a question of searching, in both languages, the origin of the word culture and to trace the history of its semantic evolution.
It is important to show that culture previously belonged to a linguistic and semantic domain quite different from the one of current use.
In French it was part of the field of plowing and working the land.
As for its origin in Arabic, the word culture was, among other meanings of the same term, rather related to the craft of swords and daggers.

Cet article met en lumière l'origine terminologique du mot culture en français et en arabe.
Il s'agit de chercher, dans les deux langues, l'origine du mot culture et de retracer l'histoire de son évolution sémantique.
Il est important de montrer que culture appartenait auparavant à un domaine linguistique et sémantique tout à fait différent de celui d'usage actuel.
Il faisait, en français, partie de domaine du labour et de travail de la terre.
Quant à son origine en arabe, le mot culture était, parmi d'autres significations différentes de même terme, plutôt lié à l'artisanat des épées et des poignards.
