Abstract EN

In spite of the British attention in Kuwait back to 1775 when the idea of moving the agency of the eastern company of India from Basra to Kuwait has been stated , but this attention was increased when Britain found that its interests in Kuwait need a virtual existence to run their policy in this region , as for the high distance of Bushehr (where the British resident ) from Kuwait , and to follow their interests as well as protect it from the external interventions which was forming a direct threats , also to monitor the foreign relations of the Kuwait ruler , Britain designated the captain Shakespeare to be agent and gave him the power of running their policy there , for that reason he was charged to strength the relation with Sheikh Mubarak and monitor his acts towards the Ottoman state , as well as working to increase the British privileges through holding the economic agreements which was lined in order to be alone dominated of the Kuwait resources to be first privileged there through putting a condition to Sheikh Mubarak not to give similar privileges to any other country without notify Britain as well as managing the negotiations with Abdulaziz Ibn Saud in Arabian peninsula in the aim of attack him to the British side and put him away of the Ottoman state for gaining his support to occupy Basra .
