Abstract EN

This study is concerned with improving the quality of life of camel herders through understanding their clothing needs.

The research aims to identify garment specifications that will help herders overcome the daily challenges and dangers of their profession.

The study uses descriptive analytical methodology.

Data were collected using a questionnaire targeting a purposive sample of 90 camel herders.

The data were then statistically analysed to find the arithmetic mean, percentage and cumulative rates.

Frequency tables were used to determine both the basic needs and preferences of the herdsman.

The research showed that the nature of daily herding activities and the work climate obliged practitioners to have materials and devices that suit their needs and provide security and safety.

This study considers that working herders are best able to determine the clothes that make them feel comfortable.

By defining the herders’ basic requirements, preferences, and relevant climate factors, specifications were formulated for clothing that will promote comfort, safety and security.
