The study aimed to identify the reality of selection and appointment policies and their role in achieving institutional excellence from academics perspective in Palestinian Universities in Hebron.

The study conducted by measuring the following variables: gender, educational qualification, academic rank, years of service, and type of university.

The study followed the descriptive analytical method.

The sample of the study consisted of (85) faculty members working in four Universities in Hebron (Hebron University, QOU, Palestine Polytechnic University, Palestine Technical University (Aroub).

The questionnaire was used as a data collection tool.

The results indicated that the Palestinian Universities in Hebron followed the selection and appointment policies were medium, as well as the degree of institutional excellence is also medium, and areas of institutional excellence came in order: leadership excellence, service excellence, human excellence.

The results also revealed that University departments encourage workers towards providing distinct ideas, and seek to adopt a philosophy of change as needed, while University departments are not concerned with measuring job satisfaction for workers periodically.

It found that Universities encourage student feedback to improve the level of services, as well as adopting modem technological means to provide their services.

The results showed a significant relationship between selection and appointment policies and achieving institutional excellence.

Furthermore, the results indicated that there were no statistically significant differences between selection and appointment policies and achieving institutional excellence in the Palestinian universities in Hebron according to variables: (gender, educational qualification, and years of service).

While differences were found Statistically significant according to the variable of academic rank, for the benefit of lecturer and assistant professor, and according to the variable of the University and for the benefit of public Universities.

The study recommended developing selection and appointment policies in Palestinian Universities in line with the needs of Universities and selecting competencies, formulating clear strategies based on scientific foundations to achieve institutional excellence, and benefit from the experiences of international Universities that have achieved institutional excellence.
