Since the beginning of the fifteenth century ad, European sailors set out to explore the regions of the world in search of a new outlet that meets the needs of their countries.

the countries of the Arab Maghreb were the first to be landed, including the second breakthrough towards the countries of the continent in search of wealth and fulfillment of need, and after military control of these countries came the process of exploitation and looting lined by the pioneers of the colonial movement, as the people of the continent were traded in the framework of what is known as the slave trade.

in this paper, we will look at the most important motives that were behind this shameful trade, which will remain a stigma in the forehead of Europeans who contributed to it, as well as knowledge of its effects on the societies of the African continent.
