This article dealt with the topic of "gender and poverty in the Mauritanian society", by examining the determinants and features of the phenomenon of feminizing poverty.

this phenomenon has remarkably attracted an increasing interest lately, as it is one of the most prominent societal problems facing the country.

this is especially true in light of the increase in the number of families headed by females and women’s exposition to discrimination policies in the labor market, which put them in a lower position than men, through their lower wages and lack of access to social security services.

this situation is exacerbated when women work in the informal sector.

an analysis of the situation of the Mauritanian woman shows that she faces many challenges and obstacles (social, economic and political ...).
