Abstract EN

(The study aimed to investigate the extent to which Science and Technology Teachers implemented Scientific and Engineering Practices (SEP) for grades (6-8) from the educational supervisors’ perspectives in the Gaza Strip.

To achieve the study objectives, a questionnaire was built consisting of 32 items representing eight SEPs.

The results showed that Developing and Using Models, Engaging in Argument based on Evidence, and Planning and Carrying out Investigations were rarely implemented by science teachers while they indicated that Obtaining, Evaluating, and Communicating Information, Developing and Using Models, and Engaging in Argument based on Evidence were rarely implemented by technology Teachers.

There was no difference between SEP Implementation average for grades 6-8 science teachers and their counterparts’ average in Technology from their educational supervisors’ perspectives.

The study recommended further studies on the availability of Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) dimensions.

It also recommended the development of appropriate teaching and evaluation materials to teach and measure NGSS dimensions) .
