Abstract EN

The Arab region is experiencing one of the fastest rates of population growth in the world, much faster than the global average of population growth.

Its population has tripled over the past five decades.

Weak economic structures and the inability of these countries to create adequate work opportunities is pushing Arab youth to migrate and seek asylum, mainly towards European Union countries that suffer from severe demographic deficits.

This study examines the interrelationship between population pressures in the Arab region and migration flows to Europe and analyzes prospects considering the contradictions in European policy in the field of migration.
