Abstract EN

Despite its positive role in achieving the comprehensive development renaissance witnessed in Qatar at various levels, the recruitment of large numbers of expatriate workers in recent decades to meet needs of development projects has contributed to profoundly disrupt the state's demographics, engendering an unbalanced demographic structure along with social and cultural repercussions and problems.

This study seeks to identify the causes of population increase in the State of Qatar, present key indicators of imbalance in the population structure resulting from this increase and clarify different effects of the imbalance on the demographic structure.

Finally, it suggests possible solutions that could be developed to reduce the demographic imbalance in a way serving the objectives of national strategic development.
