للعوائد النفطية أهمية كبيرة في الاقتصاد العراقي لما يمتلكه من إمكانات نفطية كبيرا، إذ يسيطر القطاع النفطي على النسبة الأكبر من الناتج المحلي الإجمالي و كذلك كلا من الإيرادات و الصادرات و بنسب متفاوتة، إذ يعد العراق دول ريعية بالدرجة الأساس، و قد حقق عوائد نفطية كبيرة خلال مدة الدراسة (2004-2017) و لم يقم بتنويع استثماراته و تركزت في قطاع الصناعة الاستخراجية و قد أدى ذلك إلى هدر تلك العوائد و بقي الاقتصاد أحادي الأمر الذي يتطلب وضع استراتيجية لكيفية استثمار العوائد النفطية لتحقيق التنمية و التنويع الاقتصادي في العراق.

oil revenues are of great importance in the Iraq economy, because of its great oil potential, the oil sector dominates the largest proportion of the gross domestic product and also both revenue and exports in varying proportion, Iraq is mainly a rentier country, and its has achieved great oil revenues during the study period (2004-2017) and did not distribute his investment and it was concentrated in the extractive industry sector, as this led the waste of these revenues, the economy remained unilateral.
