Abstract EN

This paper depicts Dongla city, its history, origination, site and the history, civilization during Christian and Islamic eras.it aiming at looking at central stages of the development of the city and it alteration from Christianity to Islam, and its roles on spreading Islamic knowledge in Sudan.

This in addition to present a descriptive study to the archaeologies in Dongla, the researcher uses analytical-descriptive method, and highly relies on the outcomes of the literature interest in archaeologist studies , Arabic sources and oral narratives.

The paper reaches that , following spreading of Islam in Dongla it grew to be the center of religious and cultural enlightenment in Sudan.

It recommends that, conducting more studies on archaeologies sites in Dungla is required, protected it, this in addition to collect related oral narratives, especially those interested on Islamic period in the city.
