Abstract EN

Distant learning has proved its aptitude in developing human resources, in fighting against illiteracy and in disseminating information literacy, above all in developing societies that know an extraordinary scientific progress and technological civilization.

in this perspective, our study intends to identify the degree of the contribution of distant learning in expanding information literacy among individuals in the era where the acquisition of aptitudes and competences permit to live in society without difficulties and obstacles.

we selected the university of continuous education and distant learning of Constantine to know about the students’ point of view on the subject.

we adopted the descriptive approach which seems to be the most appropriate one for our study.

the questionnaire and the interview were the instruments for collecting data that we administered.

the most significant results that we obtained underline the considerable contribution of the distant learning system in diffusing knowledge and in disseminating information literacy among the members of society.

these results show the modest technologies introduced and their low quality that constituted a real obstacle, in addition to the information literacy that contributes on its turn efficiently to the success of the system and to its exploitation with great profit.
