Abstract EN

The thesis is entitled( The dramatic space in plays by Arabic women and identity building process).

It is a study of the plays " the amulet" by Saudi play wright Malha Abdullah, "illegitimacy" by Tunisian playwright Samia Al-Amamy, "full Sacks" by Egyptian playwright MarwaFarouq and "very Iraqi family" by Iraqi playwright Awatef Naïm.

The study is divided into two sections: The Dramatic Structure and the Hierarchical Relationships as a Source of Identity Creation, and The Strategies of Presence and ence in the Dramatic Field.

The latter section tackles the various dramatic techniques employed by the playwrights with the purpose of exploring the world of the text and its geography, whether onstage or beyond.

The researcher has used the four plays for her data collection.

The theoretical framework of the research is discourse analysis.

The researcher also uses CulturalPoetics tools including New Historicism, Feminist Criticism, Deconstruction and comparative criticism.

The researcher has concluded that: Firstly: The ence of characters from the imaginary space contributes to the development of the dramatic structure, creating the characters' identities, their position in the dramatic space and their relationship with one another.

Secondly: The different positions of the characters, whether present or ent, is a main part of building spatial and dramatic relationships.

Thirdly: The position of characters, whether present or ent, depends on the gender relationships.

Women are dominant at home whereas men are passersby and do not settle at home.

They belong to the outside world.
