Abstract EN

This study aimed to recognize the western perception of Arab women in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries from historical resources such as paintings and books of western travelers and to know how the west depicted the Arab woman between art and writing.

The study depended on some paintings about Arab women and some books of western travelers who mentioned the Arab Princess Ghalia AlBogomiah in their books like the Swiss traveler Johan Ludwig Burckhardt and the French Historian Edward Drew.

Most Important results were as follows: The Arab woman gained western attention at the age of western travelers who came to study the east.

image of the Arab woman varied in the western perception according to source whether it was artistic or written.

Results about position of the Arab women from the point of view of the west differed according to her social political and geographical position.

The study revealed some of the secrets about western attention to Arab life.

One of the most important issues addressed by the team is woman as an inspiration for the western artist and a source of imagination, fame and wealth.

The study revealed that the Arab woman was a hero in auto biographies of western travelers.

They spoke about source of her power and described Ghalia AlBogomi as they witnessed wars during their wandering in the Arabian Peninsula.

Subject of the Arabian woman took a good position to compare historical similarity between Ghalia AlBogomi in the age of the first Saudi state and the super woman in the western culture, the French woman, Jeanne d’Arc.
