Considering oil as an exhausting resource and not a sustainable makes us aware of the risks faced by most oil countries, especially Algeria, due to the fluctuations in oil prices.

This paper focuses on the impact of fluctuations in oil prices on Algerian economy, the continuing fall in the prices of a barrel of oil has caused a budget deficit problem for the Algerian government, which has blocked several development programs, in addition, the trade balance deficit for the third successive years, and bed to the depletion of foreign exchange reserve.

The study concluded that Algeria should pay attention to the economic diversification, which is considered as strategic choice to achieve economic recovery especially with current challenges.
