Investmentis a strategic option to achieve sustainable development goals, but itsnegative impact on the environment due to lack of respect for the required environmental standards may pose a real threat.

The aim of this paper is to introduce the efforts of Algeria to protect the environment in light of adopting a number of environmental policies and enacting binding laws and legislations that lead to the necessity of preserving the environment.

In addition to the presentation of some successful models of investment projects, which has been able to achieve its investment objectives in the adoption of effective environmental policies.

One of the most important conclusions reached is that Algeria has met the requirement of legal protection of the environment.

The permit to make the investment is granted only after the commitment to protect the environment.

Despite the significant delay in this field, the reality of investment in Algeria is not without the existence of economic companies that succeeded in integrating the environmental factor in their investments decisions
