Abstract EN

This study aimed to reveal the nature of the relationship between the feeling of psychological alienation and the feeling of mental health among the university students in the capital from different disciplines and colleges, and to identify the level of the phenomenon of alienation among students and to know the differences according to: Depending on the type of accommodation.

And to identify the level of mental health of students and to know the differences according to sex and according to literary and scientific colleges, and according to academic specialization and according to the university level and according to the type of housing.

The aim of this study is to demonstrate the effect of alienation on mental health among university students and to identify the factors that govern the variables of the study (mental health, psychological alienation).

In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the alienation scales for the undergraduate and the modified mental health scales were applied to a random sample of 260 students from different university years.

The researcher used the following statistical methods: Pearson coefficient, T-test, and unidirectional variance analysis.

To examine the hypotheses, the results showed a negative correlation between the phenomenon of alienation and the feeling of mental health among university students.

This indicates that the greater the alienation, the lower the mental health of university students by an average.

There were also significant differences in the phenomenon of alienation among students according to gender in favor of females, where females appeared to feel more alienated than males.

And the existence of significant differences in the phenomenon of alienation among students according to the literary and scientific faculties in favor of students of the literary faculties.

The presence of significant differences in the phenomenon of alienation among students according to the type of housing for the benefit of students who live in university residence.

And the presence of significant differences in the phenomenon of alienation among university students according to academic specialization and according to university level.

There were also statistically significant differences in the degree of mental health of students according to the literary and scientific faculties towards the degrees of students of the literary faculties.

This value indicates that students of literary colleges feel more insecure and mental health than students of scientific colleges.

There are also statistically significant differences in the degree of mental health of students according to academic specialization and by university level, while there are no statistically significant differences in the degree of mental health in students by sex, and according to the type of housing for university students.
