This article attempts to evacuate the vague facts of the history of toponymy in the territories of the Islamic Maghreb, highlighting important aspects of the history of local communities, through the presence and continuity of cultural heritage and toponymy, in exploring territories of positioning, classification and linguistic significance, dive into sources from the medieval period, and use local dictionaries, as well as toponymy studies of references.

We chose the Kutama territory of Central Maghreb (al-Magrib al-Awsat) as a toponymy investigation model.
