The financial system was very important in the economy of Algeria during the Ottoman period, circulating coins varied between local and foreign, also the mint in Algeria was a symbol of sovereignty and the independence from the Ottoman Empire, the revenues of this regency at the beginning of the Ottoman reign depended mainly on the Maritime Jihad, taxes were also considered as a significant part of income, especially with the dwindling marine resources of the Maritime Jihad, indeed the policy of the Ottoman administration was characterized by a tax system that led to rebellions and instability, moreover, a large part of the expenses was directed to the salaries of soldiers, employees and some public utilities.
