لعبت وسائل الإعلام و الإتصال دورا بارزا في حوادث العنف الإنتخابي التي اندلعت في كينيا سنة 2007/2008، حيث تجاوزت الدور الطبيعي لها من وسيلة إيصال المعلومة إلى الجمهور إلى أداة تم استغلالها من أجل زرع الفتنة و التحريض على العنف في أوساط الكينيين، و من جهة أخرى قامت بدور معاكس حيث تم استغلالها أيضا لنشر رسائل السلام و الدعوة إلى نبذ العنف و الإلتزام بإجراء انتخابات سلمية خلال الانتخابات العامة التي تم تنظيمها سنة 2013
Abstract EN
Media and communication played a prominent role in the incidents of electoral violence that broke out in Kenya in 2007/2008, where they have gone beyond the natural role of communicating information to the public into a tool that has been used to sow discord and incite violence among Kenyans.
Others have taken on a different role, where they have also been used to spread peace messages, advocate for renunciation of violence and commit to peaceful elections during the 2013 and 2017 general elections.
