Abstract EN

This paper talks about the problematic of “criticism of the Qira’at”, which is one of the most serious and complex problems of the Islamic heritage, because it deals with the Holy Quran.

For this purpose, the research chose to study the methodology used in investigating the Qira’at of the master of Qira’at teachers and the first specialist in the seven Qira’at.

Our choice of Ibn Mujahid was based on several motives, including the following: - Investigating the Qira’at was associated with the sciences of the Arabic language, and Ibn Mujahid was a prominent grammarian of Kufa.

- All the books of the Qira’at which came after Ibn Mujahid until now have been based on his book and followed his model.

- Ibn Mujahid’s work is a criticism of many Qira’at specialists, where he ignored Yaqoub al-Hadrami, Abu Jaafar al-Madani, and others with whose mastery over Qira’at he was familiar.

These, however, are not the only reasons that testify to the superiority of Ibn Mujahid in his art.

The research aims at the following: - Delineating the method of criticizing the Qira’at used by the specialists themselves.

- Depicting the features of the most prominent specialist of this art.

- Demonstrating that the criticism of the Qira’at is indeed as old as the Qira’at themselves.

This research has thus unearthed the foundations of the criticism resorted to by Ibn Mujahid.
