Abstract EN

The present study aims to identify difficulties and problems that students of Arabic university in Marrakech (specialization: Arabic and living languages 2019/2020) have during translation of lexical collocations, and to clarify the roles could play computational linguistics during the process oftranslation.

We have testing the collocational competence of 25 students and their performances on translation of lexical collocations, by using a multiple-choice cloze test, with seven questions.

The results obtained from analyzing the answers collected show that there is a significant relationship between collocational competence and performance of translation, and highlighted the importance of computational linguistics to improve learners’ collocational knowledge, and to enhance their proficiency level of translation
