Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the role that universities play in qualifying and motivating students of the accounting department to obtain the professional certificates that match the requirements of the labor market.

the faculty members in accounting departments are considered the strongest link in influencing their students, especially those expected to graduate by improving students’ knowledge regarding the importance of these professional certificate in their subject as a key channel for the suitable job.

the presence of a large number of graduates of accounting programs working in jobs that are not compatible with the specialization indicates that there is a gap between university education and the labor market in this field.

the current study was conducted on 150 students and graduates from Taif university using questionnaire.

the study concluded that the role of universities in general is less than the acceptable average, while the results indicate that students have strong incentives to obtain everything that benefits them after graduation, despite the presence of some obstacles that face them to obtain professional certificates and licenses.
